España nombra a nuevo embajador en La Habana

España nombró este martes a Francisco Javier Hergueta Garnica, natural de Santander, como nuevo embajador de ese país en La Habana, informó el medio El Español.

Según el reporte, la decisión se tomó durante una reunión del Consejo de Ministros, que favoreció a Hergueta Garnica para el cargo.

El diplomático es licenciado en Derecho por la Universidad de Valladolid y ha trabajado en las embajadas de Malta, Dinamarca, Hungría, Croacia, Panamá, Serbia y anteriormente en Cuba.

También se ha desempeñado en la Representación Permanente ante la Unión Europea y en la Misión de Observación del Alto el Fuego en Yugoslavia. 
 
Fue subdirector general de Relaciones Económicas Internacionales Bilaterales y director general de Casa Mediterráneo en Alicante, entre 2017 a 2020.

Su último puesto fue como embajador en Turquía, misión que finaliza para trasladarse a La Habana, añade el reporte.

Por otro lado, en Cuba se encontraba como embajador español Ángel Martin Peccis desde 2020.

Durante las protestas antigubernamentales de julio de 2021 en la isla, Peccis responsabilizó al embargo estadounidense contra el régimen de las manifestaciones.
