La Federación Internacional de Fútbol Asociación (FIFA) acaba de anunciar que el Hard Rock Stadium, de Miami, será la sede del partido en el que se definirá el tercer lugar del Mundial 2026.

Con el calendario de juegos cerrado, y definidas las sedes de los encuentros, se informó que Miami albergará siete enfrentamientos en total, incluidos cuatro partidos de la fase de grupos y el juego por la medalla de bronce.

Según Rodney Barreto, copresidente del Comité Anfitrión de la Copa Mundial de la FIFA 2026 en Miami, habrá muchos eventos públicos gratuitos para los fanáticos, dijo este domingo durante This Week In South Florida.

Precisamente, este 2024, la final de la 48ª edición del torneo de selecciones más antiguo del mundo, la CONMEBOL Copa América 2024 tendrá por sede al Hard Rock Stadium de Miami.

El partido de la final del evento se desarrollará el 14 de julio de 2024, coincidentemente el mismo día de la clausura de la Eurocopa 2024 en Alemania.

Con una capacidad para más de 65,300 aficionados, el Hard Rock Stadium es la sede de los Miami Dolphins, Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix, el torneo de tenis Miami Open y ha servido de anfitrión a partidos de fútbol universitario de la Universidad de Miami, Orange Blossom Classic y Orange Bowl y la Super Bowl LIV.

Además, el recinto sobresale por acoger un calendario repleto de eventos de entretenimiento, como Jazz in the Gardens, conciertos y festivales.

En cuanto a la Copa Mundial de 2026, quedó definido que el partido inaugural será en el estadio Azteca de Ciudad de México, el 11 de junio de ese año, mientras el último desafío de será el 19 de julio de 2026 en el estadio MetLife en East Rutherford, Nueva Jersey.
