José Elías González Agüero, líder del Partido Unión por Cuba Libre (PUNCLI) y del Proyecto Emilia, fue detenido al amanecer de este lunes por la Seguridad del Estado y se desconoce su paradero, informó la organización Cubalex.

Según el informe, González Agüero se dirigía a la vivienda del preso político Carlos Manuel Pupo, liberado recientemente bajo licencia extrapenal, para llevarle unos medicamentos para tratar sus patologías. Su compañero ha sufrido dos isquemias cerebrales, por lo que necesita tratamiento adecuado.

No le fue permitido llegar a la residencia en San Antonio de los Baños, violando de esta forma su derecho a la libre circulación en el país.

Ya desde el domingo, el activista estaba con un operativo de vigilancia en las afueras de su vivienda en La Habana y la familia aún desconoce su paradero.

“Este acto represivo es parte de las constantes amenazas del régimen, que busca intimidarlo con la posibilidad de enviarlo a prisión. Además, González Agüero ha sido víctima de vigilancia sistemática y frecuentes cortes en su acceso a internet”, agregó la ONG.

Desde hace años, González Agüero es víctima de represión por parte del régimen cubano.

A inicios del año, el 9 de enero, cuando se cumplió el aniversario 11 del Proyecto Emilia, el activista sufrió arresto domiciliario.
