Estados Unidos impone restricciones de visado a ejecutivos de agencias de viajes

El Departamento de Estado de Estados Unidos anunció este martes la imposición de restricciones de visado a varios ejecutivos de agencias de viajes en Europa, África y Oriente Medio.

Según nota de prensa firmada por el portavoz Matthew Miller, estas agencias están implicadas en la prestación de servicios que facilitan la migración irregular hacia suelo estadounidense, aprovechándose de personas vulnerables.

Aunque no se mencionan los nombres ni las cifras, las empresas sancionadas operan rutas de transporte por tierra, mar y vuelos chárter, principalmente para facilitar el paso de migrantes irregulares a través de países de Europa y del Hemisferio Occidental.

Las medidas forman parte de una estrategia integral del gobierno estadounidense para reducir la migración irregular y proteger a los más vulnerables de prácticas explotadoras.

Las restricciones de visado se han aplicado bajo la sección 212(a)(3)(C) de la Ley de Inmigración y Nacionalidad, enfocándose en propietarios, ejecutivos y altos funcionarios de las agencias involucradas.

Asimismo, el Departamento de Estado reafirmó su compromiso de trabajar con gobiernos y el sector privado para erradicar estas prácticas que ponen en riesgo la vida de muchas personas.
