La cubana Annelis Hernández Puerto fue asesinada el 19 de septiembre en su domicilio en Florida, provincia de Camagüey, informaron los observatorios de género cubanos de Alas Tensas y Yo Sí Te Creo en Cuba (YSTCC).

El autor del crimen fue su pareja, quien posteriormente se quitó la vida. 

YSTC calificó el incidente como un caso de violencia extrema, señalándolo como una manifestación más de la misoginia persistente en la sociedad cubana.
La víctima deja un hijo mayor de edad. 

Los observatorios OGAT y YSTCC han expresado sus condolencias a los familiares y allegados de Hernández Puerto.

Este nuevo asesinato eleva la cifra de feminicidios a 38 en lo que va de año.

Además de los 38 feminicidios confirmados, los observatorios reportan tres intentos de feminicidio y seis casos adicionales que requieren una investigación policial más profunda. Entre estos últimos se encuentran muertes sospechosas en varias provincias, incluyendo La Habana, Villa Clara y Santiago de Cuba.

El subregistro llevado por OGAT y YSTCC también incluye 2 asesinatos de hombres por motivos de género, y se encuentran en proceso de investigación varios casos adicionales en las provincias de Las Tunas, Matanzas y Camagüey.
